A lot of new steel structure systems have been used in construction projects in recent years. The light type steel structure is developing rapidly in China. The region of steel structure is spreading to middle span and small span from long span. Since modern steel structure is saving in material and attractive in appearance, the prospect of application is cheerful.In this dissertation, based on the traditional fink truss, and combined with the specialty of beam string structure and truss string structure with the modern steel structure, we developed a new kind of truss string structure system by using tension-only rods or pre-stressed rods. Differing from those truss string structure with cable inside or outside, for this kind of truss string structure, pre-stress is added directly to the tension rods for reducing structure's vertical displacement. It's more economical than the traditional fink truss'. Additionally, this kind of truss string structure can be widely used in industrial and civil buildings due to its suitable span and simple appearance. It's worth being popularized for it's general application.Static mechanical behavior of the truss string structure has been studied in this article. We have got the satisfactory rods'section in both mechanical performance and economic indices by analysing the static mechanical behavior of the rods and the relationship among the rods. Moreover, computational results of different usual spans' truss have been gathered and compared for reference. Furthermore, mechanical behavior of the truss string structure system under the condition of partial stretching of the tension-only rods have been studied. The results show that it's possible for holding structure's vertical displacement by prestressing the right rods.
