The production costs of nano-SiO2 is lower and lower constantly. Lime is a kind of excellent architectural admixtures which is proved by the reality. In this article,the high liquid limit clay is representative but not suitable for the direct engineering application in Nanchang.I complete researches on the improved effect of the high liquid limit clay by nano-SiO2, lime and the two materials mixed together in this paper. The improved effect is reflected through the variation of soil liquid limit, plastic limit, plastic index, maximum dry density, optimum water content, cohesion, internal friction Angle, CBR value and permeability coefficient. The principle analysis on changing regularity of many indices is finished.I analyse the modified effects of the two factors through orthogonal design-direct analysis and analysis of variance,and obtain the mix proportion of mixed soil which satisfies the standard requirement and can be used as highway subgrade or impervious element of dam.From the experiment results, we know 14 kinds of admixture soil can be used as highway subgrade,5 kinds of admixture soil can be used as impervious element of homogenizing dam,14 kinds of admixture soil can be used as dam core impervious material and water-tight diaphragm.The improved effect of the high liquid limit clay by nano-SiO2 and lime is good. The high liquid limit clay's treatment can speed up the construction speed, promoting the engineering quality, and it has important reference value especially in the highway subgrade treatment and disposal of earth dams'backfill soil.
