| As a sustainable use and clean energy, geothermal resources that displace fossil fuel for space heating will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate global climate change.China is rich in geothermal sources. The CDM methodology AM0072"Fossil Fuel Displacement by Geothermal Resources for Space Heating"is used to develop geothermal heating project to be a CDM project, which will bring better environmental, economy, and social benefits.This dissertation goes into details on the CDM current development situation, points out that the approved methodology AM0072 will promote the development of geothermal heating CDM projects in China.It takes a geothermal concentrated heating project of A county in Hebei Province for example, through the use of the"Combined tool to determine the baseline scenario and demonstrate additionality", determines that the project baseline scenario is"Coal fired boilers in boiler house,supplying several buildings through a heat distribution network"; and demonstrates additionality.This proposed project's emission reductions is 61 240tCO2/yr by calculating, which lead to good earnings.To contrast the other two projects in China,discussed the main parameter of emission reductions:thermal efficiency of the coal fired boilers in baseline.On this basis, geothermal heating projects'emission reductions is calculated to amount to 430 tCO2/(yr·104m2) in China.In addition, the Art 6 ("The use of greenhouse gas emitting refrigerants is not permitted") of applicability has been discussed.The analysis shows that the leakage of heat pump's GHG refrigeration will do not affect the result of the entire project'emission reductions.The research project will play a practical, constructive role in AM0072's study and implement the geothermal heating CDM projet in China.It provides the scientific basis and technological support for developers and investors of the type CDM, with considerable potential greenhouse gas emission reduction and environmental benefits.
