With prolong of the oil field development time, domestic oil fields are entering a period of high water exploration, integrated water content of crude oil come to 80% or more generally. if you still use the original sewage treatment equipment, treatment efficiency will become low, which brings the oil field water treatment work a big challenge. To this end, the majority of oil workers also started to develop new types of oil-water separators which fit to treat produced fluid to address problems of the production oil field development.Research object of this paper is a new type of oil-water separator, known as the crown-type oil-water separator. It is mainly based on the principle of gravity separation and oil droplets collision law, made by a special pro-oil material into a separator with a special structure. In the oil-water separation process, the structural properties can increase the probability of occurrence of coalescence of oil droplets dispersed in the polymer and, shorten the residence time of oil and water mixture and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of oil-water separator, while adapting to characteristics the wells in the high output water flow and high water rate. In view of this separation, the paper analyzes the various factors which can impact separation effect on the separator, such as settlement cup with "crown", the settlement at the bottom of the cup structure of corrugated equipment, partitions on the separation effect, and the indoor simulate the actual separation effect of separator.The subject, using a method of combining theoretical analysis with laboratory experiments, analyzes this new type of oil-water separator how to use gravity separation principle and mechanism and oil droplet coalescence to realize water separation; Analyze droplets in the dispersed phase water in the continuous phase in cup of settlement in the terms of the fluid dynamics, obtain the formula movement of droplets and the rule formula of droplets occurring coalescence; the factors affecting the separation were dimensional analysis, obtain criterion equation, combining with laboratory data obtained to determine the basic expressions of moisture content after the separation. By comparing the experimental data under the same conditions, relative to the normal type oil-water separators, obtained effect of various physical parameters on the separation. In improving the effectiveness and capacity, the crown-type oil-water separator has a unique advantage, with excellent oil field application.
