The purpose of this article is to explore the regular pattern of microbial growth and substrate degradation, set up a practical transient kinetic model and the corresponding method for analog computation and confirm the character of wastewater and the model parameter to realize the aim for the forecast of sewage treatment process and treatment effect.Firstly, in consideration of the factors such as the need for unsteady activated sludge dynamic model and the effect of OPM(the amount of organic compound per unitage of microorganism) on the specific microbial growth rate, the curve of the specific microbial growth rate was measured, and on the base of the curve, the relation of OPM and the specific microbial growth rate was confirmed, then the relational expression to calculate the microbial concentration and substrate concentration was set up and the establishment for system model was accomplished. Secondly, the relational expression was converted to the computer language by choosing the appropriate algorithm and wrote a computer program to solve it. In addition, the data of kinetic parameter(YT,Kd,vmax and KS) was determined for providing the basis for the theoretical research.The experimental result shows that the growth of microorganism is indirectly related to substrate concentration. Through the experiment, the relation curve of the specific microbial growth rate and OPM was determined, which shows that the specific microbial growth rate is the function of OPM. OPM is the key factor to affect the the specific microbial growth rate.Finally, the result of the numerical simulation was compared to the result of the confirmatory experiment. On the base of the calculate for the microbial concentration in the reactor, the analog curves for the substrate concentration in diversity of settings were obtained, and the numerical simulation results was agreed with the experimental data well which indicates that the mathematical model in this article is reliable.
