The difference of collecting behavior between quaternary ammonium salt TR and 1231, and the depressing effect of modified starch ST were studied by experiments of pure mineral and manually mixed ores. Then the actual ore flotation results were compared. The bauxite reverse flotation mechanism was discussed though the adsorption of reagents, FTIR, Zeta potential test and Molecular Simulation. Main conclusions are as follows.The pure mineral and mixed-minerals tests showed:compared with 1231, new reverse collector TR has better selectivity and can be used in wider pH range. Modified starch ST can deperessed the collecting ability of TR in diaspore flotation.Adsorption tests show that adsorption capacity of 1231 on kaolinite and diaspore surface is greater than TR, and their adsorption on kaolinite is far more than on diaspore. The Zeta potential and FTIR spectrum of minerals show that the adsorption of quaternary ammonium salt on kaolinite and diaspore is mostly in the form of physical adsorption and hydrogenolysis adsorption.Simulation results showed:Single molecule of 1231 adsorbed on (010) plane of diaspore is more easily than on basal plane of kaolinite, while Single molecule of TR preferred to on basal plane of kaolinite; When the surface completely covered by molecule of 1231 and TR, adsorption energy of 1231 is far smaller than TR, but the difference of adsorption energy of TR on two surfaces is greater than 1231, it can expain the reason of good selectivity of TR. Adsorption energyof the modified starch ST segment is far smaller thanTR and 1231.The results of bauxite reverse flotation showed:compared with 1231, the froth product amount of TR is smaller, and easy to defroth; After the secondary flotation, TR could improve the A/S from3.86 to 6.59, the recovery of A12O3 66.07%。...
