Nowadays, aluminum extrusion production is still staying in an experience design stage. The mould forming technology and extrusion die design are carried on by the experience of the designer and constantly design by trial. In fact, the aluminum extrusion production is a complex, discrete system, with fuzziness, and stochastic characteristics. Profile extrusion die design is also a complex, comprehensive analysis, and repeated process. Many things in a good design are of non-data computation, and have not a mathematics formulation to rely on, and need more thinking, reasoning and judging are needed. Therefore, based on the "data+algorithms +mapping" of the traditional CAD technology, it is no longer suited to the needs of aluminum design and development.In order to improve the profile of future market changes, the manufacturing sector and small-volume, multi-species product requirements of the rapid response capability, aluminum extrusion die design should be integrated, intelligent, automated direction; to the modeling, optimization, the characteristics of flexible engineering phase (integration phase) transition, and the extrusion dies design is gradually becoming a CIMS-oriented intelligent design which can provide the all design process with complete computers support.In this paper, many methods are used to verify the mould strength, to calculate in real-time, to optimize the mould structure, and to plot the mould structure automatically, such as Visual Basic language programming, the use of numerical techniques (finite element method), and parameterization design technology. So that, a intelligence design method in aluminum extrusion production can be found, and a new design method in real industry can be established.The following aspects are studied in this paper:(1) The elastic finite element method was applied to the production of tube aluminum extrusion die strength analysis. Elastic finite element method are used to calculate the point of internal mould of the equivalent stress, equivalent strain, such as force and energy parameters and their distribution. According to this, the stress concentration of the mould can be found.(2) Parameterization design to the profile extrusion die based on APDL language. The tube aluminum extrusion die can be parametric by APDL language which is provided by ANSYS.(3) The temperature field of aluminum extrusion die was calculated with finite element method. The distribution of temperature was computed with finite element method. The transformation of stress state at different temperatures was studied according to this.(4) The mould was optimized by the combination of artificial neural network and genetic algorithm. With the combination of artificial neural network and genetic algorithm, the mould was calculated in real-time, and the structure parameters were optimized.(5) Visual Lisp language was used to the mould drawing. According to the optimization parameters, the mould drawing was completed by Visual Lisp language which is provided by AutoCAD.
