An Analysis Of The Effect Of Clean Development Mechanism On Sustainable Development Of China

Since the Kyoto Protocol became effective, China has already cooperated with many developed countries on establishing many kinds of clean development mechanism projects. How does the implementation of it influence each aspect of China's sustainable development? This question has been analyzed in this thesis.The thesis has analyzed the influences of CDM on China's sustainable development from the macroscopic and microscopic view respectively. In the macroscopic view, the article analyzes the influences of CDM from three aspects, which are economics, energy and environment. As to the energy, the grey correlation degree of energy conserving and energy efficiency enhancing type CDM projects and the energy efficiency are calculated. The results indicate that the two correlates with each other, namely such kind of project is helpful to the energy efficiency enhancement. Moreover, projects such as renewable energy developments can optimize the energy structure. In the environment aspect, the problem of technology introduction is analyzed by using factor talent theory. The results show that CDM promotes the technology introduction, but in reality the technical manufacture domestically has certain distance. The analysis on economics believes that CDM provides a good way of introducing FDI. The economic growth will be promoted in the long run; the industrial structure will be adjusted also.The object of microscopic analysis was a fuel gas steam combined-cycle CDM project of Beijing third thermal power plant. A CDM project's sustainable development contribution evaluating indicator system was established by using the multi-attribute utility theory. It was unified with the utility function to appraise this project's contribution to the sustainable development. The analysis of the two stratification plane indicated that the CDM has positive influence on China's sustainable development. However, there exist some problems in the project establishment, opportunity assurance as well as technology introduction and so on. In view of these problems, this article proposed some suggestions on how to promote the CDM for sustainable development of China.
