Diethyl oxalate can be synthesized by green routine that ethyl nitrite (EN) catalytic couples with carbon monoxide. In the process, EN, carrier of oxygen, will be depleted in the reaction. So regeneration is needed. However, during regeneration, ethanol in the reactor has certain solubility of EN, which will decrease the regeneration rate of EN. Therefore, Corresponding research including EN solubility in aqueous ethanol, Henry's coefficient and mass transfer thereof will be much helpful. In this study, a new apparatus of solubility measurement based on the method of dynamics was established and the reliability of experiment equipments was testified. Solubility of EN in ethanol-water mixtures is affected by temperature, pressure, flow rate and mixture concentration. But for the Henry's coefficient, it is only the function of temperature and solvent concentration. So it can be deduced by the solubility data through correlation. Furthermore, mass transfer behavior under the condition of regeneration reactor was determined by modeling. It is concluded that (a) the magnitude of solubility of EN in aqueous ethanol ranges from 10-3 to 10-2; (b) pressure contributes the most to the solubility among the four accounted reasons. But water existing in the system will balance the influence of pressure on the solubility; (c) the magnitude of mass transfer coefficient in gas-phase is 10-5. Comparing to 10-3 for d liquid-phase, it means that what happens in the regeneration reactor belongs to the gas-film control mechanism.
