With the development of marine and the enhance of people's awareness of environmental protection, people begin to pay more attention to the organic pollutants of marine facilities and transport machinery. Electrolyzing seawater is a very effective technique in preventing marine facilities from organic pollutants, and the anode materials are crucial for a successful application of this technique. Studies on a novel Ru-Ir-Sn anode coating for electrolyzing seawater were carried out.The effect of preparation factors on the properties of Ru-Ir-Sn anode coating prepared by sol-gel was investigated, annealed temperature and Ru/Sn ratio(mol) on properties of anode coatings were also studied in this paper. The influence of preparation method was researched at last. The physical and electrochemical properties of the anode coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM), energy dispersive X-ray detector (EDX), X-ray diffraction(XRD), accelerated life, the potential of chlorine evolution, current efficiency, polarization curve, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. The results showed that the optimum preparation condition of solution is: CA, EG and solution were mixed at 100℃for 12h, CA :EG(mol) is 1.2:4.65, the concentration controlled at 0.3mol/L was suitable. There was an obvious effect of the annealed temperature and Ru/Sn ratio(mol) on the morphology and electrochemical properties of the coatings. From the point of process procedure and performance, the annealed temperature of 470℃and Ru/Sn ratio(mol) of 20:70 were suitable. Finally, the anode coatings obtained by thermal decomposition and sol-gel process were studied, results showed that the preparation method had a striking effect on the morphology of the coatings. The Ru-Ir-Sn anode coating prepared by sol-gel process had much better properties than the one prepared by the traditional thermal decomposition.
