At present, polymer flood is an important method to increase oil production rate in Daqing oil field. Having been injected in main reservoirs, the commercial polymer production has begun in thin and low productivity reservoirs. Due to its specific characteristics, the development discipline of polymer flood in poor reservoirs must be different from that of main reservoirs. Therefore, the studies on whole process of polymer flood in poor reservoirs are conducted, including performance changes at different periods and related stimulations and its results as well, which will be very helpful for future oilfield development. It was put into polymer production in main reservoirs in Western Part of B1-2 region in 1996, and the poor reservoirs were put into production in Nov., 2002. Following water injection for three months, polymer was injected here in Dec., 2003. Now, it is at the late stage of water cut rising and polymer flood will be completed in 2008. During the process of polymer flooding in this region, successful practices and lessons in other test areas have been studied, leading to a satisfying development results. Meanwhile, many adjustment measures and different tests are performed, such as polymer injection with different MWs and different pressures, profile modification before polymer injection, optimal fracturing opportunity and etc, which accumulates a great deal of experience and performance data as well. The study results can be used to instruct polymer flood projects in other thin and low productivity reservoirs, which have an important role in further improving development results and economic benefits of polymer flood.
