In this paper, the application, progress and problems of the technology are presented based on the current condition of ocean remote sensing in our country, thus, the quantitative experimental calibration method is brought forward,in which suspended substances are monitored with satellite remote sensing in sea area.and the scene investigative experiments on the water quality have been carried by the application of the technology in Liaodong bay of Bohai sea.now the classification of suspended substances and the determination of components have been realized. The good results are achieved. In the course of the monitoring suspended substances in the coastal waters by Satellite remote sensing, many problems exist, water results in low reflectivity, and atmosphere has serious influence on scattering of blue-violet short-wave spectrum. In the meantime, spectra signals including reflection, scattering and fluorescence are mixed from solubility substances of sea water, these above bring out difficulties in spectral imaging, thus,it is more difficult to use spectrum technology during investigation in the coastal water. In this paper, the monitoring data were achieved from four voyages of 11 stations surveyed to south of Liaohe estuary, among them, water transparency was measured by Seck(SDD)method and suspended substances were determined by the weight method, of which sample was filtrated through GF/F borosilicate glass fiber membrane of 0.7μm aperture.Experimental results show that the significant negative correlation exists between total concentration of suspended substance and transparency in Liaohe area with a correlation coefficient of-0.85,which is Log10SPMitotalc=1.28634-1.98503×Log10SDD (N=33,p<0.0001),remote sensing quantitative relationship between difference Rd of reflectivity adopted synchronous NOAA/AVHRR satellite data and transparency is Log10SDD=1.8178-4.13011×Log10Rd.Finally,the suspended substance quantitative relationship of remote sensing;Log10SPMitotalc=4.13011×Log10Rd—1.16978. The results show that the quantitative relationship between water transparency and concentration of suspended matter is the type of experience based on different geographical situation, according to the temporal NOAA-AVHRR synchronous remote sensing data and the measured data of the transparency of suspended matter, the correlation was discussed between the remote sensing parameters and the measured suspended matter concentration, the corresponding quantitative model was made.the model's reliability and applicability were tested and analyzed from the data, which included the remote sensing of different time and phrase and the measured, the analyzed result showed that it is quite effective to monitor the suspended matter concentration by satellite remote sensing.
