The extraction, purification and product development of octacosanol frombeeswax were studied in this dissertation. The results were summarized as follows:1. The preparation of long chain aliphatic alcohol mixture by saponificationwithin ethanol phase, water phase, and transesterification were studied. The resultsshowed that saponification within ethanol phase had more advantages obviously, andcould be the first project of preparation of octacosanol from beeswax in industry.2. the long chain aliphatic alcohol mixture was gained by saponification withinethanol phase using beeswax as raw material. The quantity of ethanol, the quantity ofalkali, reaction time and ethanol concentration were selected as four factors to designthe orthogonal test and the optimum condition for the preparation techniques wasobtained. The results showed the optimum condition for the preparation techniquewas as follows: the quantity of ethanol was 2 times as heavy as the beeswax weight,the quantity of alkali was 1.4 times as heavy as the beeswax weight, reaction time is4.0 h, and the ethanol concentration was 100%.3. The high pure octacosanol was obtained by recrystallization from the mixture.Effects of solvent, ratio of solvent to solvent, and the temperature ofcrystallization on the purification of octacosanol were studied. The results were asfollows:(1) The results of the experiment of solvent choosing showed that the optimumratio of solvent B to solvent A was 7:1 (m:m).(2) Crystallizing with 35℃could remove triacosanol and the longer chainaliphatic alcohol; crystallizing with 25℃could remove octacosanol and the shorterchain aliphatic.(3) Using the long chain aliphatic alcohol mixture as raw material, the high pureoctacosanol was obtained by recrystallization for 32 times with 25℃and 35℃respectively. The production ratio of long chain aliphatic alcohol was 1.65%and theoctacosanol content in the mixture was 78.46%. 4. A kind of antifatigue microcapsule product for drinking was trial-producedusing the octacosanol as the main effective ingredient,. Choosing emulsifier andtechniques of emulsification was studied. The results were as follows:(1) The results of experiment of emulsifier choosing showed that the optimumratio of Tween80 to Soybean phospholipids was 7:1 (m:m).(2) With maltodextrin as raw shell material, the ratio of core material to shellmaterial, emulsifying temperature, emulsifying time and emulsifying times wereselected as four factors to design the orthogonal test and the optimum condition forthe emulsifying technique was obtained. The results showed the optimum conditionfor the emulsifying technique was as follows: the ratio of core material to shellmaterial was 1:30, emulsifying temperature was 80℃, emulsifying action wasrepeated 3 times, and the quantity of emulsifier was 30 g.(3) Microcapsule products were gained by drying emulsifying liquid with spraydryer. The products with smooth surface, was well embedded and had goodwater-solubility.
