With the quickly development of national economy, the requirement for water-soluble polymer materials increases very fast in various domain. Hydrophobically modified polymers, for its special theological properties, have been the hot point of the research working in the world. Such polymers can interact strongly with surfactants in solution resulting in forming the associated complex, which is greatly used in many industrial fields such as enhanced oil, abstersion, coating, life engineering and so on.In this paper, the rheology of hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide solution and its microstructure were investigated using varieties of experimental methods, i.e. viscosity measurement, photo microscopy, scan electron microscopy and the freeze fracture transmission electron microscopy, also the efect of salt, aikali, surfactant and temperature. This paper discusses this influence from the relationship between microstructure and rheology also. The conclusion as followed:1.The network construction of hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide had been proved and such network was formed mainly through block as crunode. The block was formed by single or multimolecules through intra- or interchain association interaction.2.Certain relationship had been proved between the theology and microstructure of this polymer.3.Salt would change the solution polarity and the electrostatic repulsion of the polymer chains and so bring about the change of the number of microdomain and that of the polarity in microenvironment, make the solution show complicated theological behavior.4.With the vacuum sublimation freezing-dryimg and rheological techniques, the salt/alkali/surfactant effect on the solution properties and the aggregate conformations of the hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide were investigated. The experimental methods include the photo microscopy, scan electron microscopy and the freeze fracture transmission electron microscopy. The aggregating mechanism has been explored.5.The CMC of surfactant SDBS could be changed by charge efect of NaCl or NaOH, and so the theological properties of compounded system would be changed proportionally. Adjusting the proportion of each component, the apparent viscosity could be controlled efectively. In a word, the spatial network structures inside hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide solution were confirmed in this dissertation work. The special structure brings a special theological properties and interaction method with surfactants, salt and alkali.
