By means of molecular designing, a series of sodium alkylaryl sulfonates were synthesized through several processes, involving Friedel-Crafts reaction, Grignard reaction, reducation, sulfonation and neutralization. Those isomers have the similar structures and the same length of alkane chain, but the position of aryl is different. Liner fat acid, metaxylene and halogenated hydrocarbon of different carbon number were used as the starting materials. The optimum reaction conditions obtained by orthogonal experiment were aryl-dropping temperature 25℃, mole ratio of o-xylene and chloride 3.0, reaction temperature 60℃. anhydrous ether as solvent and iodine as initiator were used in the preparation of Grignard reagent.Pd/C was used as a catalystin the reducation. reduced alkyl aromatics was sulfanated by adding hlorosulfonic acid, then the product was neutralized by NaOH,by purification the purity of the final products were more than 90%.The intermediate and final products were characterized through infrared spectrometer, ESI-MS and 1HNMR, The products were obtained as expected. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) and the surface tension (γcmc) of seven sulfonates were measured by Drop volume method. The values of EACN (Equivalent Alkane Carbon Number) were separately 11,12,17 after measuring synthesized 1-isomers,3-isomers,5-isomers aqueous sulfonates surfactants by MODEL-500 spin droplet interfacial tension. The interfacial tension between single component 1-isomers, 3-isomers sulfonate solution and the oil of Daqing Production Plant No.4 can reach 10-3mN/m, at the same time, the effects of electrolyte concentration on the interfacial tension of 1-isomers, 3-isomers sulfonate solution with some paraffin were discussed and finally a suitable explanation was made.
