1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) is not only the main raw material to produce PTT, but also the raw material to produce plasticizer, detergent, preservative and emulsifier. It is especially good to produce hight quality performance PTT fibre, it not only has PET performance, but also has flexibility and anti-contaminate which should belong to nylon. Due to 1,3-PDO has a prospecting market, 1,3-PDO as a PTT monomer, has already shown a good future application in carpet, fabric, textile, film and thermoplastic engineering material, the more function of PTT are now in developing, till now PTT is industrialized internationally, a lot of company are now putting more money in developing the industrialization technique of 1,3-PDO. 1,3-PDO will become the new generation of main raw material to synthetic fibre and thermoplastic engineering plastic. It will gradually replace cellosolve solvent ethanediol and 1,2- propanediol. Recently, 1,3-PDO price is very high, so it must develop industry technique of 1,3-PDO to form the manufacturing technique independently in intellectual, and also can compete international, meet the requirements of domestic polyester new material development.This document described few methods to synthesize of 1,3-PDO and industry manufacturing technique, including epoxy ethane carbonyl, acrylic aldehyde reaction of hydrate and hydrogenation, biological engineering, the former two were already realized the industrialization, the latter one hope in the next decade can realize the industrialization. It discussed the application, manufacturing capacity and market of TT, also analyzed the estimate cost of using different ways to produce 1,3-PDO and economics. It mentioned the necessary in domestic independently developing 1,3-PDO synthesize technique. Under the acid catalyst or chelating ion exchanging resin catalyst, the hydration occurred between acrylic aldehyde and water, formed 3-HPA. It studied how the feed concentration, space velocity and temperature influence hydrating converting rate and optional to form 3-HPA, and also 3-HPA refinery and optional condition. Then 3- hydroxyl propylaldehyde will be hydrogenated to 1,3-PDO, the procedure is through test choose the best catalyst, nickel-aluminum-molybdenum-chrome, is the raw material. Raney Ni catalyst hydrogenated two stages. In the best reaction condition, the converting rate of acrylic aldehyde is 80%, the selection of 3- hydroxyl propylaldehyde is 87.5%, the conversion rate of 3- hydroxyl propylaldehyde is more than 98.2%, the reaction selection is more than 99.2%.Finally, the product acrylic aldehyde, 3- hydroxyl propylaldehyde and 1,3-propanediol are tested by capillary gas chromatography.
