With the rapidly development of chemical industry, the scientists and entrepreneurs have to face with the serious environmental issue, which caused by the chemicals and non-green proce- dures. In decades, there is an upsurge to study the ionic liquids all over the world since the con- cept of green chemistry was advanced. Ionic liquids are entirely composed of cations and anions, which possess particular properties, such as high dissolving ability, excellent chemical and ther- mal stability, wide range of temperature, lack of vapor pressure, good conductivity, swift difus- sing and transfering velocity, non-flammibility, no smells, high polarity, no-coordinating, etc. In recent years, the chiral ionic liquids (CILs) have attracted much attention, because the ionic liquids have became environmentally begign green solvents in series chemical reactions and the CILs have potential utilities in asymmetry synthesis.D-camphor is a natural product with native chirality, which can be obtained by distilled the camphor leaves and boles. In this thesis, D-camphor as the chiral precusor we sdudy on the syn- thesis of CILs.The thesis is composed of two parts: the review and the experimental. The review part systematically summarize the definition, properties, historical development, classification, nomenclature, and the synthesis of ionic liquids; and then summarize the classify- cation, synthesis, and the applications of CILs.In the experimental part three sections are covered. The first section: D-camphor react with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, camphoroxime were got. Camphoroxime were reduced by sodium, acidified, and then camphoramine hydrochloride were obtained. Camphoramine were liberated from camphoramine hydrochloride, and then treated with gloxal, formaldehyde, and ammonia, N-camphorimidazole was got.In the next section, we prepared CILs with traditional methods. N-camphorimidazole and alkyl halide were dissolved in toluene, reflux for several hours, the CILs containing halide anions were got, and then washed with toluene, dryed under vacuum, pure CILs were obtained. In section three, N-camphorimidazole and alkyl halide were mixed and then irradiated by microwave for a few minutes, the same work up as the conventional protocols, CILs were got. Compared to the regular methods, the advantage is shot rection time, high yield, and solvent free.In this study, starting from D-camphor we prepared 8 novel CILs in 4 steps, and all the CILs were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR.
