With the quickening of economic development and urbanization process, the pollution problem of volatile organic compounds has been more and more grievous in the urban air, and one of the important factors which affect the continuable decelopment of the city. Volatile organic compounds in the urabn air may cause damage human health if they accumulate to relatively high levels in micro-environment, and play very important roles in chemical processes in the atmosphere. They are precursors of secondary pollutants like surface ozonen and secondary organic aerosols, and are importants factors depleting the stratospheric ozone layer and influencing global radiation budget. They are one kind of the hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).There are more than 1800 corporations in Dalian Eco. & Tech. Development Zone.Many of they are petroleum & chemical,mechanism, electronic, material, and curatorial plants, and diffuse large numbers of volatile organic compounds which pollutant the air of the Zone. Combining with the discharge standard research of volatile organic compounds in Dalian Economic & Technological Development Zone, this papar focused on the sampling and analytic methods of styrene, trichloroethylene, isopropanol, butanol, acetone, butanone, ethyl acetate, benzene,toluene, p-xylene, m-xylene and o-xylene which discharge badly in the Zone air. At the same time, the thesis researched the health risk assessment of 12 kinds VOCs. The results from this papar were gained as follows:1. The method of Tenax-TA sorbent sampling/the thermol pretreatment is suitable for the sampling / the pretreatment of 12 kinds VOCs in the Zone air.2. It is very suitable to detect the above-mentioned 12 kinds VOCs by just using the FFAP capillary column with a gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (FID), and the result of the method was satisfactory.3. 12 kinds of VOCs were trapped in the Tenax-TA sorbent and measured with FID, because of the economical use of the method in the Dalian Economic & Technological Development ozone. For this analytical method , the range of the lowest method detection limits for 12 kinds of VOCs was between 0.6ng-18.5ng, relative standard deviations were lower than 11.8%.4. As the results showed, the health risk assessments indexs of styrene, trichloroethylene and benzene in all sampling sites were among 10-6 to 10-4, and the indexs over-step the limit (<10-6) which was acceptable for the adult much more over-step the other limit (<10-7) which was acceptable for the elder and children. The harm indexs of the rest 9 VOCs were below 1.
