This paper is based on the problems about the importance of the mine hoist in the mining industry and serious effect in the mine hoist accidents, the fault diagnosis of the mine hoist is researched currently. Firstly the concept, the method and the species of the fault diagnosis are discussed. Secondly the configuration and working characteristic of the mine hoist is introduced. And then according to the researching and analyzing of the mechanism and character of the typical faults for the mine hoist and expert system technology, the paper clarifies the main content and the total frame of the Expert System of Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis for the mine hoist; The fault diagnosis of the mine hoist is researched by applying the theory of artificial intelligent, database and fuzzy theory. The constructing method of the Knowledge Base, Knowledge Base Management System and Reasoning Machine of Fault Diagnosis are mainly researched, which are based on the Fuzzy Expert System For Fault Diagnosis; During the realization of the system, the membership function , which can reflect the fault fuzzy , fuzzy connection and fuzzy description of knowledge based on relational database, is used. Fuzzy reasoning which is based on the Rule is realized. Then adapting the thinking of software engineering, the Knowledge Base, Knowledge Base Management System and Reasoning Machine of Fault Diagnosis are developed with VB 6.0 in Windows2000, the software becomes the core of the system .At Last this paper gives the applying examples to test the Knowledge Base Management System and Diagnosis Reasoning Module.
