In this paper, expatiateing the principle of reverse osmosis separating technology, important meaning and function of RO scale inhibitor. Discussed the seedtime of RO scale inhibitor in system, emphatically introduced green RO scale inhibitor and its developing meaning, foreground. Studied the synthesizing and purifying method of polyepoxysuccinic acid (PESA); measured the molecular weight of PESA by viscometry, made structure token by IR; through static and dynamic scale inhibition experiment, estimated the scale inhibition ability of PESA and other four common RO scale inhibitors in manufacture; evaluated the biodegradeability of PESA,PTP-0100 and MDC220 by OECD301B method.Maleic anhydride as raw material, sodium tungstate as catalyst, hydrogen peroxide as oxidation agent, sodium hydroxide as initiator, are applied in the synthesis of PESA though solution polymerizing. Utilized the characteristic which PESA doesn't dissolved in acidification methyl alcohol of pH=2.5, purifying PESA. Obtained the average molecular weight of PESA which is 836.69 by viscometery, made structure token by IR to proving the purification offspring is PESA.The scale inhibition ability of PESA, PTP-0100, MDC220, CX-101 and CX-102 are researched in static and dynamic experiment. The result indicated that when Ca2+ is 500mg/L, HCO3- is 3150 mg/L, the scale inhibition rate of PESA could reach more than 90%, which is the highest among the scale inhibitors. In the dynamic experiment, PESA could have good scale inhibition effect with adding quantity at 4ppm.The biodegradability of PESA, PTP-0100 and MDC220 were evaluated. The result indicated that PESA was an easily biodegraded scale inhibitor, its 28d biodegraded rate could reach 93.5%, much higher than PTP-0100 and MDC220.
