Magnesium oxide (MgO) is the core of magnesium compounds because of its high output, wide use, lots of kinds, besides MgO is the materials of the other pure magnesium compounds. Magnesium compounds are mass-produced in China, which the reserves of magnesite resources account for 1/4 in the world. China is the country which exports largely magnesium salts, but the main is the magnesium oxide of low purity. China need import high pure magnesium oxide to satify the domestic demand. It is necessary to conduct an investigation into high pure magnesium oxide.China is abundant not only in the solid magnesium resources, but also in liquid magnesium resources. China has a long coastline, so it has a large amount of seawater. The most briny salt is produced in China, with about 2000m~3 bittern as outgrowth. Bittern is the concentrated seawater, in which has a great deal of magnesium ion. If we use bittern to produce magnesian compounds, the products is not only more cheaper, but also less impurities, equality components, and easily prepare high pure magnesium oxide. At the same time, this method can decrease the pollution to produce salt caused by manesium ion in bittern. But in a long time, people don't attach importance to this instance and more than 80% bittern is not fully used.The paper brings forward a new process based on the situation of our country and the summary of the methods on preparing magnesium oxide, using bittern and mid-waste from soda plant as materials to prepare magnesium oxide. We mix up the two kinds of material together at the fixed temperture with stirring. After reaction, the following working procedures are aging, filtration, lavation, drying, calcination and magnesium oxide is obtained. Finally, we should measure the performance indexes of magnesium oxide.After repetitious experimentation, we have chosen the best precipitator and have found out the excellent process conditions. Liquor condensate is chose as precipitator by compare the yield of basic magnesium carbonate and the using ratio of magnesium ion. Bittern can satify the demand without purification. Adding the precipitator into bittern slowly under stirring is better than Adding the precipitator into bittern.
