The present work introduced a new method called temperature difference blending (TDB) for preparing thermoplastics(TP)/thermotropic liquid crystalline polymers(TLCP) in situ composites, which provides a novel way to produce in situ composites based on polymers with no overlap in processing temperatures. With this method, the PET/TLCP, PA6/TLCP and PP/TLCP were studied in this paper. The effect of TLCP content on the TLCP morphology and the mechanical properties of blend systems were investigated. With the TLCP content increasing, the TLCP morphology changes from sphere to fibril. Thus, the mechanical properties of the TP/TLCP blends also improved. Furthermore, the typical "skin-core" morphology also appeared in the PET/TLCP and PA6/TLCP blends. Finally, a new concept, called in situ symbiosis composites has been putted forward in this dissertation. The preparatory experiment has been done, but the results did not achieve the expectation that TLCP fibers and TP fibers coexist in the blends. Nevertheless, this work will make the...
