In this paper, the gangue and the fly ash from gangue power plant of Xinwen mine area were studied. Based on physico-chemical properties and environmental security evaluation, technical route of synthesizing PAFSS with the Si, Al and Fe extracted from red gangue and fly ash was put forward and the optimum condition was established. Satisfied results were obtained when the PAFSS was applied to treat wastewater. The main studies and conclusions were as follows:1. The main mineral component of gangue and fly ash were studied by the X radial diffraction. Results showed that the main components in the fly ash were noncrystalline, the main form of Fe is hematite, and Al existed in noncrystal and the original mineral. The main components in the washing gangue were steady minerals such as quartz, kaolinite, calcite and feldspar. The quantity of noncrystal was increased and pozzolanic activation was enhanced obviously.2. Property of the fly ash with different grain size was studied by chemical analysis method. Result showed that the content of heavy metals in different grain size was different and the trend is that content of copper, zinc, lead, cadmium increased when grain size diminished. But chromium was contrary. Environmental impact caused by fly ash with small grain size should be taken serious.3. Chemical species of heavy metals in gangue and fly ash were also studied by Tissier method, and results showed that the chemical species of heavy metal distribution ranking sequence generally is residua>organic combinative>Fe-Mn oxide combinative>carbonate combinative>ion-exchangeable. Amiable-move species of lead, cadmium were high in proportion and their impact on environment should be pay more attention.4. The red gangue and fly ash is baked with Na2CO3 in the muffle, and then the sinter was solubilized by NaOH solution and sulfuric acid to increase the solubilization ratio of aluminum and silicon. The optimum condition of solution of aluminum, iron and silicon were found by orthogonal experiment. The solubilization ratio of SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 in red gangue is obtained by 82.98%, 86.34%, 89.42% and that of fly ash is obtained by 86.83%, 83.31%, 89.38%. The aluminum and iron sulphate and soluble silicate were obtained at last.
