Two parts are included in this thesis. In the first part of this thesis, the luminol-oxidant CL system based on the enhancing effect of analytes are reviewed; in the second part of this thesis, we mainly focus on the study of electro-converting analytes in-situ and its application on chemiluminescene in order to improve the analytical performances of luminol CL system and extend the range of analytes detectable with luminol based CL system.Chemiluminescence analysis method has its advantages of high sensitivity, rapid analytical speed, wide linear range, simplicity and low cost of instrumentation, suitable for automation and has been successfully applied in life science, material science, clinical medicine and environmental monitoring, etc. When reviewing the analytical usefulness of CL analysis, it is clear that the most promising and rapidly developing area of analytical CL concerns the luminol CL system. This is because it presents high ECL emission quantum yields, lower oxidizing potential, inexpensive reagent consumption and this ECL reaction can occur in aqueous buffered solutions in the presence of oxygen and other impurities. It is such advantage mentioned above that makes the luminol CL system prosperous. Of literature reported, most chemical reactions are redox reactions. Of these redox reactions, the luminol CL systems based on the effect of analytes draw more attention. They focus on chemically converting analytes, especially the oxidation conversion, making use of CL active intermediates in-situ to realize the combination of converting analytes and the CL detection. As a result, the sensitivity is improved.In recent years, electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) has emerged as a useful analytical technique by which a CL reaction is produced in the vicinity of an electrode surface when suitable potential is applied to it. Reagents, such as highly redox active intermediates, can be produced in-situ from passive precursors in the medium, and the analytes can also be electrochemically converted in-situ into a species which can take part in a CL reaction with reagents electrogenerated in-situ or with reagents present in the bulk solution.
