Significant urbanization effect on climate presents during last 2 decades, with the rapid urbanization and prominent increasing urban-population in southeast China. In this paper, NOAA/AVHRR NDVI dataset and surface air temperature dataset and NCEP/DOE AMIP-II reanalysis data are used to know the how much urban the heat island (UHI) effect on temperature wanning in southeast China (20°N-36°N,102°E-123°E) from 1979 to 2002. Main results are concluded as follows:1. The Kriging method is used to conduct spatial interpolation of air surface temperature dataset. The results show that the method is feasible in gridding the historic climate data.2. NDVI in southeast China increases less than that of the whole country, with Significant decrease in Yangtze delta and Pearl delta. NDVI rise much in spring and winter, changes little in fall, but decreases in summer.3. Between 1979 and 2002, the daily mean temperature in Urban, with its population more than 500 000, is 1.5 higher and it's trends is about 0.1°C/10yrs higher than that in village.4. With R-2 temperature dataset as background, we can know,① From 1979, the daily minimum temperature increases about 0.308℃ due to UHI effect, more than 29.8% of its total change trends ② The most significant UHI effect exists in spring, and then in winter or summer .Thedaily mean temperature increase about 0.416℃ in spring due to UHI effect from 1979,more than those about 0.325℃ in winter. ③ UHI effect impacts more in the south and west area than in north or east part, with mostsignificant area in Yunnan-Guizhou altiplano to Pearl delta.
