High count yarn and light fabric are an important tendency in the wool industry. Because of its superior natural characters, such as softness, elasticity, strong moisture absorption ability, gentle luster, ect, wool has become the perfect raw material of underware and fashion. However, due to the limitation of raw wool resource, cost and price of fine wool, the use of natural fine wool to develop higher count yarn and lighter weight fabric is limited. Stretching technique, one way to drawing common wool to a higher count,is practicable to solve the problem. At present, the main obiects of stretching are wool fiber or wool top, then, the slenderized wool fiber is spun into wool yarn with specialized epuipment. But the process of spinning high count yarn is inefficient and is limited by equipment, moreover, the cost is too high. So in this dissertation, some basic researches and exploitation on slenderizing woolen yarn as follows were done:1. Analyzing the feasibility and mechanism of slenderizing , pretreating and setting.2. Studying the technics processing and the range of parameters.3. Adopting the universal rotatable experimental design method to design the experiments;optimizing the parameters by establishing multi-objective mathematical pattern and using the method of random searching.4. Studying the influence of slenderizing on the characters, mechanic properties of wool yarn.By means of specific experiments and analysis, the followingconclusions have been drawn out:1. It is feasible of slenderizing wool yam because of the structure of wool fiber and wool yam.2. Under the establishment of the technics processing, more than ten reagents have been attemped at labortary, and finally A has been choosen as the pretreatment reagent and B as the setting reagent.3. The concentration of reagent A, the temperature and time of pretreatment have significant influence on the effect of slenderizing. The best configure of the three parameters is : concentration of A: 6.1%;temperature of pretreatment: 75.0°C;time of pretreatment: 4.5min.4. The characters and mechanic properties of wool yarn have been changed to some extent: the yam number is induced;the diameter of wool fiber is reduced 3~4 jum;yarn evenness is improved;hairiness index is ruduced to a great extent;yarn twist and unevenness of twist are all reduced;breaking tenacity rises;elongation at break is reduced;So the use value of wool yam is improved dramaticlly.
