With the booming improvement of people's living standard and rapiddevelopment of science and technology, people have put forward higherrequest for apparels. Comfort and hygiene of the garment have alreadybecome people's primary pre-requisite. Ramie and flax fabrics are greatlyfavored by people for their many kinds of fine performance, such asventilative, firm, cool and hygienic properties such as anti-bacteria, antistaticand ultraviolet-proof.Compared with flax and ramie, jute fibre is more coarse, harder and lowerstretchy for so much lignin in it, so it is more difficult to spin and to weave,particularly on knitting machines.In this article, the jute yarn is supplied by Professor Yu Chong-wen, whichwas produced in a new spinning technique. According to the study of thejute yarn and the effect applying on flat knitting machine, we found that itsknit-ability is not good, so the pre-treatment is essential before we use it, andto improve its knit-ability. We use sodium hydroxide to treat the jute yarnafter determining the dosage through experiments, then use soft agent tomake the yarn more soft and can be knitted on flat knitting machine.The quantity of jute yarn is not good enough to produce high quantity jutefabric with a single yarn, so we use two yarns on flat knitting machine toproduce rib stitches. In knitting, the yarn tension was strictly controlled tomake loop strength even and consistent in order that the jute fabric wasknitted successfully.In order to remove the impurity accreted on the jute fibre, such as pectin,lignin and so on, the jute fabric were in need of scouring and bleaching, and we use Scourzyme305L and H2O2 to treat them.The cellulose enzyme treatment of the fabrics was the key of the article, the aim of which was to eliminate fabrics surface's fluff and to improve their handle, softness. Cellulose enzyme has been widely used in the softening of cellulose fibers. We analyzed the performance and action mechanism of cellulose first. In order to grasp the influence of processing conditions on cellulose treatment effect, then we took orthogonal test choosing four factors: the dosage of cellulose, treatment temperature, temperature-holding time and pH value and choosing four levels for each factor in the test. We calculated the weight loss and the strength decrement of the fabrics for each test. Then we analyzed the influence of each factor on weight loss and strength decrement and the relation between weight loss and strength decrement. On the basis of that, we obtained scientific and rational processing conditions of cellulose treatment.After finishing, all kinds of fabric's performances were tested. We used fuzzy mathematics method to evaluate the three fabrics, and found that the comprehensive performance of the jute/flax fabric was better than that of the two pure jute fabrics.
