Arylalkyl sulphonate surfactant is a novel anionic surfactant, which can be synthesized by alkylating aromatic hydrocarbon with α-alkene sulfonic acid that is gained by sulfonating an alpha-olefin. The methods allow the functional sulfonate group to be attached to the end of the alkyl chain rather than to the aromatic ring thus allowing for selective substituted groups, ether branched, linear or alkoxylated or combinations thereof to be placed on the arkyl compound prior to sulfonation and alkylation. Because of above special structure, compared with the normal alkyl sulphonate, arylalkyl sulphonate surfactant has better solvability, more active products, better thermostability, and better biodegradation. In this paper, the progress of surfactant for EOR is introduced, and a novel arylalkyl sulphonate surfactant is synthesized. The invention uses the alkene sulfonic acid produced by sulfonating an alpha-olefin with the complex of sulfur trioxide and dioxane to alkylate benzene in order to produce a novel arylalkyl sulfonic acid, then by neutralization arylalkyl sulphonate surfactant is achieved. In the experiment, the effect of reaction temperature, reaction time, catalyst capacity, solvent capacity and other factors are investigated; the optimal conditions are determined. Though Infrared Spectrometry analysis, it is conformed that the product is expectant product; through measuring the interface tension of the product with oil/water of the Fourth Daqing oil Recovery Factory, it is proved that arylalkyl sulphonate surfactant can low the oil interface tension observably, and possess better surface activity.
