Spherical active carbon (SAC) is a new kind of high-tech product that yields a high added value. It has been attached importance as a new type active carbon with excellent adsorptive performance and unparalleled physical - mechanical properties. Different ways and different raw material, such as ion exchange resin (IER), phenolic resin and pitch, were applied to prepare SAC, and the structure and adsorptive performance of SAC were studied in this thesis. The results showed us that the key factors in preparation of SAC from IER were air oxidation, KOH impregnation, carbonization and the temperature rate of heating. The changes of resin during heat were analyzed by IR, proposing that it is a number of O atom introduced in IER that prohibit the removal of carbon which increased the carbon yield of resin about 3 times from 6.3% to 20.1%, but the alcohol adsorption ability decreased greater. The specific area surface of SAC is 1169m2/g increased dramatically 5 times that of raw IER active carbon after KOH impregnation based on N2 adsorption, and the microspore volume increased markedly. The metal salts will be useless without active agent according the alcohol...
