Surface subsidence damage in coal mining district is worse and worse and it has an effect on the aspects such as farm production, citizen life, transportation and environmental hygiene with increasing of mining. It made the results of air pollution, hydrosphere attenuation, soil's quality and quantity degradation, damage of building and so on. The paper has systematical research on distribution characteristics and origin of ground fissure in mountain area.On the basis of analysis of the data surveyed and investigated, the paper has given distribution characteristics for mining ground fissure in mountain area, and explored the influencing factors on the law of distribution anddemarked them two classes. The one is geologic condition, the other is mining technical conditions, so it has been considered that landform and minor features, surface soil character and mining method are main influencing factors.Meanwhile, it has non-continuous and continuous surface movement distortion from mining subsidence in mountain area. Through laying predicting line in working face applying ground movement prediction system, the reason of difference between real and predicting lies in producing additional slipping from landform and minor features. Generally, the ground fissure produces in convex features and convex variable slope. They are clear different about the location and width of ground fissure between real and predicting in non-full subsidence, and basic identical in full subsidence.In the end, the location and width of ground fissure were predicted in non-mining working face of 14402 in Xiqu mine applying ground movement prediction system. The paper has put forward several proposals of precaution and controlling about mining ground fissure.
