(1) N-succinyl chitosan (NCS) was synthesized by acylation of chitosan with succinic anhydride. IR and 1H NMR showed the reaction occurred on the amine group of chitosan. XRD indicated the degree of crystallization in NCS was weakened. Water-solubility of modified chitosan was improved due to the decrease of crystallization.(2) NCS/glycerol/trisodium citrate blending membranes were prepared based on casting and solvent evaporation method. Considering synthetically from multiple factors, the optimum conditions of the preparation of blending membrane was NCS 5%(wt), glycerol 6%(wt), trisodium citrate 8%(wt) and drying time was 8 h at 40℃. SEM showed the membranes were smooth, homogeneous and dense. IR proved the addition of glycerol and trisodium citrate to the NCS did not damage the basic structure of NCS. Contact angle testing suggested the blending membranes had good hydrophilicity.(3) The anti-adhesive effect of the blending membranes was studied in peritoneal adhesions induced by wound, ischemia, infection, foreign boby in Sprague-Dawley rats. The results indicated the blending membranes significantly reduced the adhesion grades in groups of wound, ischemia, infection-induced peritoneal adhesions. Meanwhile, the results also indicated the blending membranes were more effective on infection-induced peritoneal adhesions. Pathological changes of adhesive tissues showed the adhesion was mainly caused by fibroplasias, meaning the adhesion in the research was fibrinous adhesion.
