There were 11 genera and 241 species of subfamily Coliadinae known from the world, of which 6 genera 38 species from China. The female reproductive system of Subfamily Coliadinae from China was studied in this paper, which includes the present resume both domestic and abroad, morphologic description of female reproductive systems. The difference in reproductive system among genera and species was compared. In addition, according to ovary development of Catopsilia pomona, the index of ovary development gradation was proposed, and discussed its value in pest prediction. Finally, spermathecal gland, accessory gland and spermatophore for taxonomy were discussed. The taxonomy system was according to . The morphologic terminology was adopted the"Taxonomist's Glossary of Genitalia in Insects", , and so on. All the specimens examined are fresh from field collection, and deposited in the Entomological Museum of Northwest A & F University. Now the morphological study about female reproductive system of Coliadinae is so limited that species identification and phylogeny couldn't get support from it. So it needs further study to summarize the morphology of the female reproductive system of this subfamily for phylogeny. Conclusions are as follows:1. The female reproductive system of Coliadinae includes internal reproductive organ and female genitalia, and the size and shape of female reproductive system is relate to the development of adult female; The internal reproductive organ is composed of a pair of ovaries, two lateral and one common oviduct, spermatheca, accessory gland, genital chamber and oviporus, and ovariole 8,belongs to polytrophic meroistic type; The external genitalia include corpus bursae, associated parts, ductus seminalis, apophyses posteriores and papillae anales.2. The difference of female reproductive system among genera were obvious, mainly showed in corpus bursae, signa, ductus bursae, spermathecal gland, ovarioles and so on, which can be used as identification characters and phylogeny analysis.3. The difference of female reproductive system among species is not obvious except among species of genus Catopsilia, so it is unsuitable for being characters to reveal the relathonship among species or needed futher study.4. According to the growth and development of the ovary of Catopsilia pomona, index of 5 gradation of ovary development was proposed for providing reference in coliadine pest prediction and control.
