As one of the most geological disaster provinces, there are complex geological environments and strong natural variations in Liaoning province. In many geological disasters, landslides have occurred frequently in some parts of Liaoning Province, particularly the natural landslide associated with debris flow. Therefore, from the point of view of geology, it analyzed influence factors of landslide, recognized possible risk of landslide area with pattern recognition method in Liaoning province, developed landslide hazard zonation and landslide hazard grade zonation, and further calculated the stability of landslide in high risk areas. The purpose of paper study is to provide a strong theoretical basis for the macro-economic development, landslide prevention and building warning systems, so as to minimize the damage caused by landslides, reduce the people's lives and property threats and guide national product.In this paper, a comprehensive and systematic research on landslide disasters in Liaoning province has been made and some fruitful results have been acquired.(1) The method of extracting typical characteristics parameters of landslide disaster region as quantitative judging indexes of recognization could reflect characteristics of landslide regional distribution. Preliminary evaluation index system of landslide disaster which have built could provide fundamental security for landslide disaster zonation.(2) Pattern recognition technique has been applied to landslide hazard zonation and landslide hazard grade zonation in Liaoning province, alse landslide distribution range and risk grade have been specificed. This provides science foundation for government making plans of disaster prevention and reduction.(3) Research result not only recognized reginal distribution of landslide disaster which have happened, but also recognized potential landslide risk areas and cleared hazard grade in the areas.(4) In the typical areas of high-risk landslide which was recognized, landslide stability have been analyzed with three methods according to different conditions. And futhermore, landslide dangerous condition have been identified. This is good for government to take detail actions of prevention disaster and reduction disaster.
