In this paper, dynamic characteristics were studied based on the deployable structure with joint clearances. The details and results are as follows:1. This paper discussed the finite element modeling method of joint clearance, proposed virtual experiment modal analysis method to study the dynamic characteristics of deployable structure with joint clearance. To expand a single-cross structure as an example, virtual experimental modal analysis method was used to identify modal parameters and showed that the use of virtual experimental modal analysis to study the dynamic characteristics of deployable structure with joint clearance is effective and feasible by comparing with the experimental results.2. This paper studied the dynamic characteristics of deployable structure with joint clearance of the various effects of parameters. To expand a truss deployable structure as an example, this paper based on the finite element model, used virtual experimental modal analysis method to obtain modal frequency response function curves, combined with graphic method and curve fitting to identify modal parameters of structure, through the analysis and comparison of the first five natural frequencies, got the influence pattern of the dynamic characteristics on the joint clearance size, the environment and material parameters of deployable structure.3. This paper studied the impact of joint clearance on the stability of deployable structure. To expand a truss deployable structure as an example, this paper based on the finite element model to carry out the transient dynamics analysis, got the influence pattern of joint clearance on the stability of deployable structure.
