Thin film technologies are widely used in modern scientific and technological fields. The theory of thin film growth is guidance for developing a new-type materials and improving the properties of custom thin film materials. Monte Carlo simulation of thin film growth based on computer technology is easy to see the structure and behavior and to explain the experiment results and phenomena. The important foundation is offered to adjust and optimize the techniques of thin film preparation.In this article, the studies of thin film growth are carried out by computer simulation of Monte Carlo method. The studies are made a simulation of the face-centered cubic (100) surface growth according to metal cuprum. Schematic diagram of the surface morphology under different substrate temperature of thin film growth are obtained and analyzed. Many significant results are found.First of all, the background of the topic, research purpose and significance are described in this article. The development of the thin film growth computer simulation is introduced. The theories of thin film growth and computer simulation of Monte Carlo method are introduced. Thus, the basic principle of the research is given.Secondly, the theories of thin film growth and computer simulation of Monte Carlo method are brought into a state of unity. A new three-dimensional model for thin film growth is presented. In this model, periodic boundary condition has been adopted; the particle diffusion on substrates, along the island edges and between various layers, is taken into account. The interaction between particles has been investigated using Morse potential. Diffusing or evaporating is decided by probability.Thirdly, according to the three-dimensional Monte Carlo model of thin film growth, the basic ideas of computer simulation are present. The flow chart of computer simulation for thin film growth is described. The program based on MATLAB software is designed.Finally, the studies of thin film growth are carried out by computer simulation. Schematic diagram of the surface morphology under different substrate temperature of thin film growth are obtained and analyzed. The effects of thin film growth according to substrate temperature bring into play by particles migrating steps.
