Strong earthquake had been noted as early as Han dynasty in China,A lot of information have been record in history. The storage and management of seismic data have been undergoing the phase of papery record in years of the modern.Along with seismic system informatization in recent years,it makes pooling of data from the seismic stations which produce raw data and related basic data to regional centers with cities and provinces as the unit which output data products of regional seismograph network, and all the data of regional networks has been collect to the National Center, and serve specific scientific researches. Therefore,the seismic database system provides with plentiful and integrated earthquake data。Data model is the foundation of the storage and management of seismic data. It refers to data structure, data operation and constraint condition of data integrality. Seismic data model is not only the precondition of the, transmition, management storage, but also the foundation and important components of data sharing, data and service applications. The quality of seismic data model affects directly service efficiency of the earthquake data and the performance of seismic service applications. However, a Digital Seismic Observation System has been estanblished in whole China last five years, wide varieties and great quantities data have been need storage and management . But as the seismic databases were built with various seismic observation system, according to the specific service needs they are exactly different. Thus, various databases are formed, which make the designation of seismic data dictionaries and seismic data format and description attribute items also are distinct.With the increase requirement in the service system of seismic data information, the existing seismic data model and modeling technology are not supply the demand of storing, collecting, management and application of seismic data. There is a urgent need that a new seismic information network,that is more suitable for open and standardization. People can access seismic data from distinct nodes to share data or.remote seismic data information.The increase quantity and species of seismic data is also to require a new data modeling technology which is more advanced, more suitable for seismic operation system.This article is based on the project of China Earthquake Administration: the technical study of seismic data model optimization. We investigate and evaluate the deficiency of existing storage structure and present research in seismic data model in the beginning. Then according to the application demand of seismic data modeling technology, the new method and principle of seismic data model design is introduced. After that, the technical schema and concrete measure is given. Then we choose the suitable data modeling tool to construct experiment platform. The platform is used to analyze, optimize the existing seismic CDM and PDM. The method is laid the groundwork for seismic practical application.The object oriented method is based on the conception of"object". By object-oriented tool, the system can encapsulate the data and methods in a higher-level object. Because the trait of earthquake data is diversified. so we chose the GIS data which is related earthquake, Using the method of object oriented method , the seismic data of GIS is considered as kinds of"object". Therefore, it avoids the disadvantage of traditional structuring method, and keep the independence and commonality of earthquake data to obtain the satisfying results.The research idea of this article is as follow: 1,Investigation and evaluation the deficiency of existing seismic data model. 2,Option of suitable data modeling tool.3, Optimize the existing seismic CDM and PDM.4, Before and after comparison.5, conclusion.The result of this research is indicated,that the optimization for seismic data model is necessary.
