A water-soluble polysaccharide isolated with hot water from the mycelium of Phellinus pini, After ethanol precipitation, SepharoseCL-6B gel filitration, the fraction of PPM was obtained. It was homogeneous by tests:Gel filtration on Sepharose CL-6B,and HPLC analyse. The molecular weight of it was 2.2×104 Da measured by HPLC.GC analys was indicated that PPM was composed of Man,Gal and Glc, After the methods of partial hydrlsys,Smith degradation, methylation and GC-MS analysis, The results indicated that PPM consisted of a backbone composed of (1→2)-linked-Man,(1→2,6)-linked-Man,(1→2,3)- Man and (1→2,3,6)-linked-Man residues in the ratio of 6:6:1:1, The side chains composed of (1→4)-linked -Man,(1→3)-linked-Gal,(1→6)-linked-Gal residues in the ratio of 1:1:1and The nonreduced end was Glc and Man.Immunobilological activity assay showed that PPM could increase the ConA or LPS-induced lymphocytes proliferation in vitro.
