Earthquakes occurring directly beneath big cities may bring enormous casualty and enconomy loss. The item of surveying of subsurface active faults in Kunming basin gets a conclusion of spatial distribution and potential risks of active faults by surveying active faults in Kunming basin and seismic risk evaluation in quaternary. Based on the evaluation results, this study can get the method of the protection against earthquake and disaster reduction and achieve the target of alleviating the harm of urban earthquake. This study based on the item of surveying active faults in Kunming basin uses sequence stratigraphy method to establish a subsurface model for the Kunming basin with a great deal of borehole data. The main results of the thesis are summarized as below.1. In the course of Borehole Exploring, we get 65 more exacter TL data, and validate the method of Subdivision of Quaternary. The chronostratigraphy of Kunming Basin is divided into 4 age: The forming time of the Holocene corresponding( Haigeng Formation) is 0- 0.012Ma;that of the Upper-Pleistocene(Guandu Formation) is 0.012-0.128Ma; that of the Mid-Pleistocene (Zhongying Formation) is 0.128-0.78Ma; that of the Under-Pleistocene(Dianchi Formation) is 0.78-2.6Ma.2. This study uses more than 340 boreholes'data and 3D module of ArcGIS to establish a subsurface model for the Kunming basin and get a 3D sequence-structureframe work model of the basin.3. Using the 3D module of ArcGIS, this study get slope maps of all the stratum. And I research on the segmentation of target faults in Kunming basin. F1 (Pudu River-West Hill Fault) is divided into 3 segments, F2 is 1 segment, F3 (Puji-Hanjia village Fault) and F5 (Panlong River Fault) both are divided into 2 segments, and F6 (Heilongtan-Guandu Fault) is divided into 3 segments.
