In the present study C-mos nuclear and 12S rRNA mitochondrial DNA were employed as genetic markers to deduce the interrelationships among Gekkonidae lizards; Cyt b and ND2- tRNATyr gene sequences were used to discuss the population structure of Hemiphyllodactylus yunnanemis; 12S rRNA gene sequences were used to reveal the phylogenetic relationships among seven species of the genus Gekko.1 Interrelationships among genera of GekkonidaeGekkonidae lizards, representing more than 85 percent of the Gekkotan genera, are found on all major land masses and almost all oceanic islands. Intergenericrelationships of the Gekkonidae have been far more difficult to resolve than thoseamong other gekkotan families. Our data set consisted of a large number of completemitochondrial 12S rRNA gene sequences and partial nuclear C-mos gene sequencesfor 34 genera of geckos and 2 genera of pygopods. Maximum parsimony (MP) andmaximum likelihood (ML) trees were generated based on unweighted analysis usingPAUP 4.0b10. Bayesian inference (BI) analyses trees were generated by MrBayes3.0B4. A majority-rule (>50%) consensus tree was constructed. All phylogenetic treessupported the monophyly of Gekkonidae with great confidence. There were six...
