Study On Foliar Surface In Trib.Polygoneae Of China And Systematic Position Of Polygonum Sibiricum Laxm. Based On MatK Sequences

Abstract:There are different opinions about the phytogenetic classification of trib.Polygoneae. In 1930 trib. Polygoneae was divided into 3 genera (Tovara, Koenigia,Polygonum) by Steward. However, Tzvelev thought trib. Polygoneae contained 13genera, namely, Bistorta, Persicara, Tovara, Truellum,Chylocalyx, Cephalophilon,Knorringia, Aconogonum, Fagopyrum, Polygonum, Tiniaria, Koenigia, Reynoutria.Trib. Polygoneae was divided into 5 genera (Koenigia, Polygonum, Fagopyrum,Reynoutria, Fallopia) in "Flora Europaea". There are different opinions about generaand some genera's scope .The classification of trib. Polygoneae still needs furtherresearch.Light microscopes are used to examine foliar epidermal features such as the type ofstoma apparatus, the shape of epidermal cells and the anticlinal wall of 75 spieces of 5genera in trib. Polygoneae from China. It is canculated and analysed that the data of theratio between stoma's length and wide, stoma density and stoma index. Five types ofstoma apparatus on mature leaves are recognized in this survey: anomocytic type,brachyparacytic-anomocytic type, non-typical anisocytic type, anisocytic type andparacytic type. The shapes of epidermal cells are multiangular and irregular. And theiranticlinal walls are straight and sinuate. The ratio of length and wide of stoma isbetween 1.19 and 1.95. Stoma density is between 122.07-793.46mm-2. And stoma index isbetween 11.21-28.24%.The results sustain that section Avicularia, section Polygonum, section Bistorta,section Cephalophilon, section Echinocaulon and section Aconogonon become genera. InPolygonum, Polygonum wulumuqiense F.Z.Li et Y.T.Hou et F.J.Lu sp.nov. is sustainedfounding and Polygonum aviculare L. f. erectum J.X.Li et Y.M.Zhang is promoted fromform to spiece. In Truellum, because of the particularity of Polygonum bungeanum(Turze.) Nakai, so it is set apart from Truellum to Persicaria.
