In this paper, architectural analysis were made in different development stages and in different environment of Quercus variabilis BL. . The result is that architectural transition, mainly characteried by the changes of branch pattern, and bifurcation ratio, interval between branch and leaf angle to horizon, varied signficantly, but branch angle to horizon kept stably. In different development stages, The architectural comparison shows that: Din seeding stage, trees grew slack, bifurcation ratio and interval between branches were smaller 2)In sapling stage, saplings grew quickly and crown enlarged rapidly, both bifurcation ratio and leaf angle to horizon were larger than those in seeding stage, branch angle to horizon still didn't vary obviously; 3) In mature tree stage, crown' expansion and trees' growth slowed down, both bifurcation ration and leaf angle to horizon were smaller than those in sapling stage, branch angle to horizon were still stable. In different environment, the result is that architectural transition, mainly characteried by the changes of branch pattern, the leaf angle to horizonbifurcation ratio and interval between branch of upper layer varied significantly , but branch angle to horizon , the leaf angle to horizon, bifurcation ratio and interval between branch of lower layer kept stably. Both in different development stages and in different environment, except branch angle to horizon, the leaf angle to horizon , bifurcation ratio and interval between branch of upper layer and lower layer varied significantly , it suggests that there is an ecological correlation among them.
