In order to divine, the ancients observed and recorded the sky, then formed the initial astronomy archives. With the development of society and technology, large number of astronomy archives and books emerged in ancient China. Researching on the astronomy literature not only make us know the developed degree of ancient astronomy and the management situation, but also supply better foundation to modern using. Nowadays, domestic research on ancient astronomy literature has got some achievements. However, it is scattered and incomplete. This article will do the basic research on ancient astronomy literature from the great literature view, in order to make up the shortfall.In this paper, the basic research on ancient astronomy literature is carried out from four aspects. The first, summarizing the historical development of ancient astronomy literature. Summarizing various periods that ancient astronomy literature have got through, and the development and characteristics in different periods, including the evolution in quantity, content, carrier, recording mode and so on. The second, the ancient astronomy literature is divided into two parts: books and archives, which are introduced in this part. The ancient astronomy books and archives'classification depends on the content. The third, to assort the carrier of the ancient astronomy literature , and introduce the shape. The forth, there are specific organizations and persons to manage the ancient astronomy literature, and there are also some systems. Researching on it can know how ancients manage archives. Although the ancients seldom make use of the ancient astronomy literature, some achievements are gained.The retained astronomy literature of ancient times have important scientific value, which are our precious wealth. We should excavate their value and meaning further.
