There are a lot of jacket offshore platforms in the field of China's ocean engineering.At present, the design of the ice-resistant jacket platforms mainly deals with the extreme static ice force. Only considering whether the platform can be pushed over by the maximum static force or the biggest overturning moment. Based on the field monitored data in Bohai Bay, the ice-induced vibration is very intensive and endangers the platforms'safety. In order to develop the Ice-resistant platforms'design, the failure modes and the failure criterions of the ice-induced vibration should be analyzedIn this paper, the failure modes and the failure criterions are studied based on the field monitored data in Liaodong Bay. It is found that the ice-induced vibration of the existing jacket platforms can evoke the structure's fatigue failure and the acceleration failure such as the upper fracture low cycle fatigue fracture and the crew member's feeling fatigue. The systematic failure modes analysis is further conducted. It is pointed out that the fatigue failure of the structure under the intensive ice-induced vibration still exists, but the fatigue life of the structure can satisfy the design requirements generally. What's more, the hazard rank of the acceleration fatigue under the ice-induced vibration is much higher than the structure fatigue failure hazard. The strong acceleration response of the deck exerts inertial force on the superstructure, which can lead to the associated pipelines leakage,the flange loosing and the crew members falling sick. Then the process of the ice-induced vibration assessment is pointed out based on the field monitoring data. Finally, the response prediction model is built, and the safety measurement is carried to keep the platform running safely.On the one hand, this paper can conduct the Ice-resistant platforms'design. On the other hand, it can provide scientific suggestions for the running platforms'safety management during the ice period.
