With the incessant growth of elderly mobile Internet users in China, the elderly in cities and towns have a growing demand for mobile social applications targeting at the aged. The cognitive ability and ability to adapt to media of the elderly in cities and towns, with their increasing ageing, gradually weaken. However, the design and application of mobile social applications aiming at the physiological and psychological needs of the elderly group remain to be in the initial stage. Moreover,on the one hand, scientific, effective, perfect design principles and norms have not yet been enacted. On the other hand, the existing application design is far from being able to adapt to the demands of the elderly in cities and towns for the current social interaction, nor is it capable of effectively resolving the plight of the alienation of intergenerational relations and lack of social vitality prevailing in the elderly group.Even more, this increasingly prominent problem has become an urgent social issue to be solved in the current design circle. Therefore, from the perspective of design, with the examination of the social ageing effect on the design as the prerequisite, guided by the role and value of digital technology in mobile social advancement among the elderly in cities and towns, based on the theory of domestic and foreign advanced concepts, this article aims to draw scientific and practical research results and case studies with practical significance. It is hoped to provide new ideas and paths for the research and practice of the design of mobile social application software for the elderly in cities and towns.Based on user demand analysis and experimental demonstration, this paper classifies the characteristics of the elderly in cities and towns in terms of user experience, functional needs, behavior habits and interpersonal communication.Meanwhile, the key influences exerted by six factors such as "Age","Education Level","Occupation","Gender","Personality" and "Old-age Care Mode" on social activity and demand differences of the elderly in cities and towns are deduced. In addition, with the help of the Analysis of Kano-Model-Based Customer Needs, this paper analyzes the needs of the urban elderly in terms of safety, cognition, interest, communication, emotion and other aspects in the context of mobile social interaction, serving as the basis for the construction of design methods and models in this paper.Furthermore, based on "The Strength of Weak Ties" by Mark Granovette, this research analyzes the social relations of the elderly in cities and towns putting forward the social relations model of "The Strength of Intermediate Ties";guided by Three-Dimensional Theory of Interpersonal Behavior by William C.Schutz, this paper analyzes the transformation of the hierarchy of needs in different relationships, proposing a novel research perspective, followed by four design principles of "Accessibility","Social Security","Tolerance" and "Closeness";according to the Scene Theory, four scene analysis perspectives of "Scene Synchrony","Scene Co-Environment","Scene Co-Power" and "Scene Empathy" are proposed, coupled with the summary of the design methods including "Reading Context","Interest Social Context","Emotion Social Context","Knowledge Social Context" and "Life Social Context".In addition, this paper also investigates the page interaction and operating comfort zone according to the Thumb Efficacy experiment and eye movement science experiment of ergonomics, proposing a representative prototype design scheme based on five demand scenarios. Moreover, the usability of the design method and scheme are also validated and evaluated through eye movement experiment and "Likert Scale" subjective evaluation scale.Based on the above systematic researches, this study tries to enrich the theoretical and practical research on the experience design needs of the elderly in cities and towns in the context of mobile social networking in China. At the same time,it will provide a new perspective and design ideas for improving the user experience of the elderly in cities and towns in mobile social applications.
