his study was designed to determine: (1) the effects of group training in mindfulness meditation on participant symptoms and positive psychological characteristics in the context of a hospital based stress reduction clinic (SRC); (2) if the effects are equivalent to those found at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Stress Reduction and Relaxation Program (SRRP), of which the SRC is an approximate operational replication. The 183 adults who enrolled in the 9-week program over the course of 20 months had a wide variety of stress-related medical and psychological symptoms and diagnoses.;Significant reductions in total symptoms and symptomatology were found at post, exceeding 40% by six-month follow-up.
