Abstract/Summary:
This special research project establishes a framework for initiating, planning and effectively implementing an in-house training initiative for adult learners in an online learning community. The Internet is becoming a delivery method of choice for deploying training in corporate and educational environments alike. Additionally, web-based training can provide instant feedback on which portions of the training are working and which portion(s) of the training may not be working. It is often easier to make changes to web-based training products than classroom or CBT training products. Changing markets and global economies are forcing companies to produce and provide training and learning solutions quicker than ever before. While many in the educational field are forging ahead with initiatives to implement web-based courses using a growing number of web authoring and development tools, there are some that question the effectiveness of such initiatives. Due to the fact that online training is still in its infancy, many that are taking on this task or a portion of this type of project do not have the proper skill or tool set that is necessary to implement a project of this magnitude in a timely and cost effective business manner as well as stimulating to the learner.
