Abstract/Summary:
This study determined attitudes between parents choosing the intra-district Montessori school choice model and those who have chosen traditional non-Montessori school programming for their children in the Laurens School District #55. Additionally, this study determined the influence of demographic factors between the two groups. A socio-demographic survey tool was used to group the ten categories. The sample data consisted of 62 parents. Upon collection of data, a descriptive analysis was completed. A paired t-test was used as a statistical analysis to measure all significant variables. Results from the survey showed significant differences in attitudes, according to the indicated categories, between the two groups. In addition, sociodemographic data revealed significant differences in education attainment and income for the two groups.
