Abstract/Summary:
This study used mixed analysis to explain government data to determine whether economic development has occurred in Nepal since 1985 and whether the lives of women in the hill region of Nepal have improved during the same time. Nepalese government data was used to determine whether economic development had occurred while interviews of twenty Nepalese women between the ages of 30 and 75 were used to see if their lives had improved. Despite the ten year civil war which raged during the 1990s government data indicated that economic development has occurred. The interviews showed that 85% of the women interviewed believe that the lives of some or all of the women in Nepal have improved.
