While many studies have been performed on how to treat children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), little research has been performed to illuminate the family dynamics of families with a child diagnosed with ADHD. This study uses the Family Environment Scale to explore the family dynamics of families with and without a diagnosis of ADHD. A history of the disorder and information about the survey instrument, the FES, has been provided, as well as research about ADHD and the uses of the FES. The hypotheses were that there would be significant differences between families with a diagnosis of ADHD and those without on the ten subscales of the FES. None of the ten hypotheses were supported, as no differences were found between the two groups.
