Abstract/Summary:
Modeling flow and transport in a fractured porous medium is a difficult issue due to the large contrasts in the medium and other related aspects. Yet it has many important applications such as contaminant disposals and petroleum reservoir simulations. Recently, many research works and efforts are concerned with this problem.;In this dissertation, we present a contribution to study the 2D flow in fractured media modeled by a coupled system of the pressure equation and the concentration equation. Numerical methods are developed to solve the system based on the finite volume approach. The developed schemes are able to capture information of the interfaces introduced by the fracture as well as being easy to implement and efficient.;We obtain preliminary analyses for the stability and convergence of the schemes. Numerical experiments are presented and discussed to demonstrate the potentials of our schemes.
